About Us

Janata Shikshan Mandal

            Formation of Janata Shikshan Mandal took place in July 1959 with the objective of imparting higher education to local youth from Raigad (then Kulaba) district. In June 1961, the college started under the leadership of the then Speaker of Mumbai Region Assembly Shri. Nanasaheb Kunte, for classes of F.Y. Arts, Science, and Commerce in the beginning. In January 1987, Loknete Adv. Datta Patil (Dada), the MLA of Alibag Taluka and the Former Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra State Assembly was elected as the chairman of Janata Shikshan Mandal. Under his able guidance a perspective plan of development of this college was executed. He was also instrumental in establishing ‘Adv Datta Patil Law College’ in the J.S.M. campus in June 2000.
